The (Theater) People Speak

This morning the Boston Globe broke the story that Jeff Zinn is resigning as Artistic Director of WHAT.

Here are a couple responses:

"Jeff Wolf Zinn is the most courageous artistic director I ever worked for. I owe him the greatest theatrical experiences of my life. His relentless pursuit of fascinating material, combined with his dogged determination to present it to audiences, have been a rare asset to the otherwise limp and toothless American regional theatre establishment, producing as it does outside of Wellfleet, sentimental, self-congratulatory, bourgeois drivel. American Theater: there may be one hell of a free agent on the market right now, and if you have the guts, I suggest you nab him."
Brendan Patrick Hughes

"Jeff Zinn did it the brave way; uncompromising in the best senses of the word. A generation of making exceptional theatre on the Cape, providing artists a cool and artistic summer respite...summer theatre that was not "summer theatre"...THESE are all the things that great legacies are made of. Wherever I am, he has a place. Good luck friend, and enjoy those light moments around the kitchen table with your kids :) You deserve it."
